Our Process

How your housing makeover happens

Like all works of art, great housing designs start out with nothing more than an idea that may seem no more than average at first. However, conceptual unity is crucial to any home design; before the building can begin, first we have to know what we're building. Bring us your ideas if you have them; if not, the first step is for the designer and client to take some time to come up with a few (or several) together. This should take into consideration not just aesthetic and style preferences, but the practical needs of you, your housemates, and your Free Company mates. (Need a crafting station? Well, that changes everything!)Just like architects and realtors use blueprints and floor plans, even virtual houses can benefit from planning, sketching, and even project management. Don't be surprised when documents like mood boards, sketches, and schedules to come through during this time. Even if the in-game build portion of the project may not start right off the bat, this is simply a type of "measure twice, cut once" approach. Sketching, prototyping, and iterating significantly speeds up the actual build process, and helps your designer better meet your expectations with the end result. Meanwhile, clients like you benefit from staying in the loop and knowing your design project is always on track.With thorough creative processes, we can bring forth thorough creative results. Think, sketch, build, iterate, finish -- and enjoy!

Questions (and answers)

Q: How long will my build take?A: While no two projects are the same, build time schedules and time estimates are measured based on the size of the area(s) to be decorated, the type and size of the estate, and our current client workload. Please note that design work, including sketches and drafts, will not commence until project costs have been agreed upon by the client, and an initial down payment has been made.
Q: What will my build cost (in gil)?A: While no two projects are the same, compensation is measured based on the size of the area(s) to be decorated, as well as the type and size of the estate, and how many/which housing items are provided by us versus the client. We charge only flat fees determined in advance by the project parameters, and do not itemize expenses, so you will always know up front what your build will cost, without surprises or market board fluctuations.
Q: Can you make the furniture for me?A: As long as it's a craftable housing item, the answer is yes; however, keep in mind that not all housing items fit into this category. Clients should provide their own housing items when such items are obtainable only from quest rewards (such as the Sapphire Weapon Bust, Baelsar family portrait, etc.), special currencies (such as Allagan Tomestones, Bicolor Gemstones, etc.), or drops from instanced duties (such as the Moon Phasmascape). For items that require rare materials obtainable from drops/desynthesis from instanced duties (such as EX primal trophies), clients should also provide the necessary mats.
Q: Can you design me an interior based on another housing interior I saw somewhere?A: Reference material and ideas from clients are wonderful, whether it's an in-game or real-world house. That said, requests to exactly replicate another player's housing design, whether referenced through a screenshot, Web link, or an in-game address, would be politely declined.
Q: What's with the name?A: While I highly recommend letting me handle your most delicate in-game decor, I recommend against letting me handle any real-life fragile objects. I am actually quite a clumsy person who clearly goes through life with a low Dexterity build. The irony is both amusing and memorable.

Hello adventurers! I'm known as Remix Sakura, but you can call me Remix. My approach to housing design is to create immersive spaces for the players' imagination -- both owner and visitor -- informed by my experience in roleplaying. I enjoy employing the art of visual storytelling, with a penchant for allegorically and symbolically meaningful details that add new, and often hidden, layers of meaning to the experience of just being there in a dream environment come to life.I started playing FFXIV way back in Patch 2.1, and it has remained an important part of my life ever since. With such a wide variety of new content every year and every expansion, I still enjoy every minute of it (minus the queue times for PvP), but it's the creative pursuits that happen both inside and outside of the game client that always seem to engage me the most.In real life, I've spent nearly 20 years studying and working a professional career in graphic design, illustration, and fine art. Even when I put my "work" aside for my hobbies, I consider myself an artist at heart, and with DEX+8 Housing Design, I hope to bring a little bit of my "venture" into my hobby, and to bring a touch of sophistication to the housing design process for all the adventurers out there who need it.
